August 2009

Dear Friends,

This time of year brings a special challenge to ministries that depend on donations. This year has been an especially hard one for LLT because our family of supporters is small and most of us are affected by the economic woes here in the US and Canada.

It’s easy for us to get so consumed with the details of our work–the demands of production, the tedious process of editing translations, answering the phone, paying bills and keeping records - that we lose sight of it the bigger picture.

In the next few lines I want to talk about our work in the context of the big picture.

God’s remnant people are entrusted with precious, life-saving truths to be shared with the world at the end of time. They have a unique calling and a special responsibility.

This old world is headed for a final crisis. In preparation, the enemy of souls is hard at work to deceive and destroy as many people as he possibly can. He has a method:

“Through the two great errors, the immortality of the soul and Sunday sacredness, Satan will bring the people under his deceptions” (Great Controversy, p. 588).

But not all will fall for those lies.

“God will have a people upon the earth to maintain the Bible, and the Bible only, as the standard of all doctrines...” (Great Controversy, p. 595).

LLT stands with God’s people who fight for the truths of the Bible. We focus on decisive end-time issues. That’s why we produced the Seventh Day series, and that’s why we are committed to producing a series on death and related topics. We are called for this purpose.

Brothers and sisters, our dependence is on God. And God has used you. You may not run the cameras or edit the videos but through your contributions you are a vital part of what we do. This is your work as much as it is ours.

Let me share some deeper concerns:

Today, more than 160 years after the Adventist pioneers adopted the seventh-day Sabbath, some people are getting discouraged and are calling for new interpretations of Bible prophecy. They doubt the inspired view of climactic events portrayed by Ellen G. White.

A growing number of Adventists question whether the Sabbath will ever actually be a polarizing, end-time issue. They cannot imagine how Sunday laws could ever threaten freedom of worship in societies that profess such high regard for individual liberties.

But just imagine what could happen if a handful of nationally syndicated talk-show hosts decided to support Sunday laws on their shows!

This isn’t as far-fetched as it sounds.

Several of the most popular radio and TV talk shows hosts claim to be defenders of the moral high ground. They even refer to religious principles to support their arguments.

We’ve seen their tremendous influence on public opinion and their ability to manipulate audiences.

What if they targeted Sabbath keepers the way they target their political opponents?

Remember this insight from God’s messenger? “Even in free America, rulers and legislators, in order to secure public favor, will yield to the popular demand for a law enforcing Sunday observance. Liberty of conscience, which has cost so great a sacrifice, will no longer be respected” (Great Controversy, p. 592).

We are committed to defending the Bible truths for this time.

As funds become available, we will continue preparing the Seventh Day series for people all over the world. And we will proceed with a new focus on eternal torment and other State of the Dead issues. By God’s grace we will provide tools to present these Bible truths with persuasive power.

Your prayers and your contributions are crucial elements in the translation and production process. I invite you to prayerfully consider this work and I thank you so very much for your generous support.

Sincerely yours,

Pat Arrabito
